Alleviating stress in shared spaces
The act of deep breathing has profound benefits for our mental, emotional and physical health. It restores our optimal state of focus, whilst reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. The importance of addressing mental health is growing significantly, having highest negative affect on young adults and comprising their ability to adapt to adult life. Despite the Australian government spending $9.9 billion on mental health per annum, economic costs associated with mental illness is predicted to increase sixfold in the next 30 years.
veig-X returns a users’ attention to the fundamental presence of their breath and provides biofeedback to help optimise their breathing rate for better health. Designed for implementation across a range of tertiary-level facilities as a ceiling or wall feature, veig-X creates a multi-modal experience that subtly attunes to the 5 human senses, conducive to alleviating stress. By working in conjunction with a smartphone app, veig-X also provides both an individualized and confidential means of nurturing positive practices for wellbeing, within the community environment.
